Programs - Academy

The Academy program is the Rush Soccer Club's answer to competitive soccer for U8 and U9 players. It was formed to provide the Club's players the opportunity to compete and train at a more advanced level.

Academy Enrollment Form Winter  2009-2010

Why should your child participate in the Academy program?
The Academy program focuses on the development of the individual talent and character of each young soccer player to his/her fullest potential. The Academy Director works to improve each player's skill level through scheduled training sessions throughout the fall, winter and spring seasons. Players receive the opportunity to participate with other players who display an advanced desire to grow and develop. Any player in the U8 or U9 age group in our recreational program, which also includes the Kansas Rush/Shawnee Soccer Club cooperative agreement, is welcome to participate in the Rush Academy. Further, the Academy program allows for continued player development between their recreational team and their Academy group. Rush Soccer Club players are given every chance to succeed.

Kansas Rush Soccer Club's philosophy focuses on individual development of each player. "We put the player first." Since this is the golden time of learning, it is imperative that our players and parents can completely stay attuned to the technical development of the players as well as their psychological aspect. We can do this because we can control the environment and level of competitiveness. Being placed on a premier team at age five, six or seven creates an environment that is often out of our control, with factors such as: 1) winning games, 2) referees, 3) opponents. These three factors can put a player under so much stress that the game does not continue to stay fun, thus, causing burnout. Our program allows players, when they want, to train and play with players of an equal ability at an accelerated level on a consistent schedule.

What are the Academy Training Priorities?
The Academy is an accelerated program offered to U8/U9 Recreational players that helps foster a more competitive environment. Used as extra training opportunities in a 4v4 format.

High Priorities:
Make every player technically proficient on the ball
Develop good training habits for a more competitive environment
 Make training fun and competitive

Low Priority:
Allow players of equal ability to train and compete
